Description

This tea is especially close to my heart because the name came from my son. As a military family, the term Dead Reckoning felt like the perfect symbol for clarity and focus. Every time I drink this tea, I think of both my sons serving in the military and my husband, who recently retired. Their strength, discipline, and ability to keep moving forward even when the road isn’t clear are all captured in this cup. This blend is a daily reminder of resilience and focus, both on and off the battlefield of life.

Why the Name Matters:

In military land navigation, Dead Reckoning is a method of finding your way by relying on direction and distance when landmarks aren’t visible. It’s about discipline, precision, and trust in your training. To me, it’s a beautiful metaphor for staying focused and steady in life, even when the path ahead isn’t obvious.

Flavor Profile:

Gunpowder green tea provides a bold, slightly smoky backbone with a gentle caffeine boost. Tulsi adds herbal depth with calming, grounding notes, while gotu kola offers an earthy, herbal brightness. Lemongrass lifts the blend with a refreshing citrus finish. Together, it’s invigorating yet balanced—clean, focused, and steady.

Understanding Herbalism:

Each ingredient was chosen to help bring both energy and balance:

  • Gunpowder Green Tea – Strong, full-bodied green with steady caffeine for clarity.
  • Tulsi (Holy Basil) – An adaptogen traditionally used to support resilience and calm under stress.
  • Gotu Kola – An herb long valued for supporting focus, memory, and clarity.
  • Lemongrass – Refreshing and citrusy, often used for its uplifting qualities.

Ingredients:

Gunpowder green tea, tulsi, gotu kola, lemongrass.

Loose Leaf Brewing Tips:

Use 1 Tbsp per 8–16 oz water (170°–175°). Steep for 3–4 minutes. For a smoother second cup, keep the first steep conservative.

A Little Note:

Green teas are sensitive to water temperature and steep time. Cooler water and shorter steeps create a gentler, sweeter cup, while hotter water or longer steeps can bring out stronger, more bitter notes. Save your leaves for a second infusion—you may find the second even more enjoyable.
