Down Home Sweet Tea
$20.00
A nostalgic Southern-style loose leaf black tea crafted for slow summer afternoons and perfectly brewed iced tea. Smooth, refreshing, and made for sweet tea lovers.
Description
This blend was created with classic sweet tea in mind—something you’d sip on a front porch in the heartland, looking out over the pasture on a warm summer day. I wanted it to feel familiar and refreshing, but with a little extra depth and character. By adding cedar tips and lavender, this blend becomes more than just sweet tea—it’s a comforting, timeless experience in a cup.
Flavor Profile:
Bold Ceylon black tea gives this blend its strong backbone, perfect for sweetening with honey or sugar. Spearmint adds a cool freshness, orange peel brings a bright citrus spark, and lavender contributes a gentle floral touch. The addition of cedar tips gives the tea a grounding, woodsy note that makes it uniquely ours—classic, refreshing, and layered.
Ingredients:
Ceylon black tea, spearmint, cedar tips, orange peel, lavender.
Loose Leaf Brewing Tips:
Use 1 Tbsp per 8–16 oz hot water (180°–190°). Steep for 5–8 minutes. Save the contents for a second brew.
Iced Tea Brewing Tips:
Use 1 Tbsp per 8 oz water. For iced tea kits, add the tea to the built-in steeper, pour in hot water, and brew for at least 10 minutes. Remove the steeper, sweeten with sugar or honey while warm, then refrigerate. Serve over ice for the perfect porch-side treat.
A Little Note:
Black teas and blends like this are forgiving—longer steeps create a stronger, heartier brew that holds up beautifully to sweetener. Quality loose leaf teas can be resteeped for a second cup, especially when the first steep is kept on the lighter side.
